The advantages and disadvantages of

 mechanical sealing over gland packing .

Advantages :

1-Mechanical seals have zero leakage .
2-Mechanical seals save about 50% of power consumed .
3-Mechanical Seals have no friction between parts .

Disadvantages :

1-Not efficient at abrasives medium .
2-Hard to installation .
3-Cost more money than gland packing .
